Sister Snaps
Watch this space for news of your sisters' major life events, such as notable career achievements, engagements, marriages, and births. We'll also share fun photos of Alpha Chis at KOK events and out and about in the community. Please submit news and photos to Alexa K. Apallas.
Tailgating with Alpha Chi Omega We had a great turnout at our first meeting of the term. KOK members got into the back-to-school spirit by dressing in their college colors. Among the many schools represented were UCLA, USC, San Diego State, and University of Colorado. Big thanks to Stephanie Sibley for hosting and for baking up those amazing Symphony brownies!
Lunch Bunch is Back! Lunch Bunch met on Thursday, September 15, at Green Acre, a unique farm-to-table restaurant not far from UTC. And look what we found in the lobby!
Help a Sister Out with the New Women & Wisdom Program
Behind every successful woman is another successful woman who lent a helping hand. Now, you can offer that helping hand to collegians in their junior or senior years.
Headquarters recently launched a new mentorship program that connects alumnae with collegians who share their professional interests. Mentors and mentees can meet virtually via Skype or Google Hangouts, but they are encouraged to meet in person if it's geographically possible. The Women & Wisdom program aims to help alumnae give back to their sisterhood while offering professional guidance to collegians. It also allows busy professionals to forge deeper connections with Alpha Chi Omega--the expected time commitment is just one hour per month.
Visit the Women & Wisdom page to learn more about the program or sign up to be a mentor.
Take the Founders' Day Challenge
We can help Alpha Chi Omega honor our founders by making a special contribution during the Founders' Day Challenge, which runs from October 12 through October 19. You can direct your gift to one of seven programs supported by the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, or you can choose to contribute to the Real. Strong. Women Fund. It's your gift...you get to choose! Here are all the options:
An afternoon at the theater has become a KOK tradition. Over the summer, we saw "Ain't Misbehavin'" at the North Coast Repertory Theater, and we've also enjoyed "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Great Nome Gold Rush" and "Unnecessary Farce." Pauline Nutt coordinates these cultural outings for us, and now is your chance to choose the play you'd like to see. Check out the upcoming shows on the North Coast Repertory Theatre's website and email Pauline Nutt with your top choices. From there, we'll determine a date and time. Let's go out and support the arts!
Philanthropy Corner
Our philanthropic goal is to deliver 30 fully-stocked bags twice a year to Carol's House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence. Ideally, we will receive a large batch of items by October 20 so that we can arrange to stuff the bags that afternoon and have Donna Poey deliver the bags to the shelter on October 21.
You can bring donations with you to the Founder's Day celebration on October 15 or to Lunch Bunch on October 20. Or, check with Donna Poey to arrange for drop-off at her home.
