Active Minds’ Everyday Guide for Everyday Challenges
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly one in five U.S. adults lives with a mental illness. As alumnae women, we want you to feel comfortable and prepared to help a friend in need. Alpha Chi Omega recently collaborated with Active Minds to introduce a new mental health listening tool for members: Validate, Appreciate, Refer, or V-A-R. Here is a conversation guide with an accompanying animated video intended to be used to discuss mental health challenges during an upcoming alumnae chapter meeting or gathering. Follow these four steps in the conversation guide to bring the V-A-R training to your alumnae chapter: 1. Begin the conversation about mental health. 2. Introduce the V-A-R video (Access video: activeminds.org/GreekLifeVAR Password: hereforyou1) 3. Discuss the V-A-R process. 4. Practice what you have learned. |
