Founders' Day Celebration at UCSD
Members of KOK celebrated Founders' Day on Saturday, October 15, with collegians from Kappa Lambda and Iota Nu on the UCSD campus. We had a large group come together in support of our sisterhood.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch met on Thursday, October 20, at Beach Plum Kitchen in Carlsbad. We had some unexpected drama thanks to a bomb threat in the shopping center's lower plaza, but no harm was done. Several members wore purple in support of domestic violence awareness.

Travels and More
Alexa K. Apallas and her husband, Greg Bible, recently celebrated their wedding in Kauai--the same island where they spent their honeymoon 12 years ago. Alexa recently accepted a three-month contract position as a content designer with PayPal. She's working with the consumer web team and is traveling to San Jose two days a week.

Last month, Stephanie Sibley traveled to Charleston, South Carolina, with several friends. She took a low-country Southern cooking class at the mansion on Forsyth and ate grits every day. She even spotted a lyre!

Collegian News

Iota Nu is thrilled to announce the completion of a successful recruitment. The chapter gained 40 enthusiastic new members. Welcome to a lifetime of sisterhood!

Let's Go See a Play!

An afternoon at the theater has become a KOK tradition. Over the summer, we saw "Ain't Misbehavin'" at the North Coast Repertory Theater, and we've also enjoyed "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Great Nome Gold Rush" and "Unnecessary Farce." Pauline Nutt coordinates these cultural outings for us, and now is your chance to choose the play you'd like to see. Check out the upcoming shows on the North Coast Repertory Theatre's website and email Pauline Nutt with your top choices. From there, we'll determine a date and time. Let's go out and support the arts!

We met our goal of delivering 30 fully stocked bags to Carol's House! Thanks to everyone who donated items and helped stuff the bags for Donna Poey to deliver. Heather Johnson, the domestic violence program coordinator at Carol's House, was very appreciative. Here's what she wrote:

"Thank you for the 30 welcome bags you delivered to us today. They are beautiful with bright colors and will definitely brighten our participants days. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to Carol’s House and Community Resource Center. May you be blessed for your time and for giving."

We'll continue to collect items for Carol's House, and we plan to donate another set of bags in the spring. As a reminder, here's a list of the requested items:

  • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss
  • Combs and brushes
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Soap
  • Deodorant
  • Razors
  • Feminine hygiene products (pads, not tampons)
  • Sunscreen
  • Makeup, especially mascara
  • Journals
  • Day planners/mini calendars
