We're mixing some well-loved classics, like our holiday party and our Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday event, with exciting new events (ax throwing, anyone?). KOK members enjoy a supportive community of sisters and valuable networking opportunities. Your membership dues help KOK support two local collegiate chapters--Iota Nu (UCSD), Kappa Lambda (USD) and Iota Tau (CSUSM). A portion of your dues also goes to the national organization to keep Alpha Chi Omega strong across the country.

Ready to join? You can pay online OR fill out the registration form, or bring a check to the next event.

Collegiate Chapter Updates: Scholarship Recipients

Picture
Iota Nu (UC San Diego)
Sabrina Chan, is the 2021-2022 Iota Nu (UCSD) Scholarship Recipient. She will be a Junior in the Fall and is majoring in General Biology, a minor in Environmental Systems and is a pre-dental student. Lacking a strong female support system in her life, she joined Alpha Chi Omega in Spring 2019 because the women seemed to be an empowering group that could relate to her stories and support her ventures.

Sabrina has held the roles of Scholarship Committee member, Scholarship Chair and is now an Executive Board Member as VP Intellectual Development.  In her role she seeks to provide her sisters with the necessary tools to not only obtain amazing grades, but to feel motivated and encouraged to do well in their classes and academic careers.  She is heavily involved in an organization called UCSD's Pre-Dental Society as the Recruitment Team Lead, on the Special Events team, as a Dental Health Ambassador which raises awareness for oral health to impoverished and younger audiences, and as a chair-side dental assistant for their free dental clinics.

Kappa Lambda (University of San Diego)
Emma Hirsch decided to join Greek Life because she wanted to be involved in something bigger than herself. Alpha Chi Omega stood out to her because of the support she felt from these Real Strong Women.  She will be a Senior this Fall. Emma has served on many committees to assist the chapter, such as the Philanthropy, Recruitment, and Ritual. Her role on the philanthropy committee was to aid the Philanthropy Chair in her duties of raising money for Domestic Violence Awareness through planning and implementation of Walk a Mile.

She is involved with USD Herbivores (plant-based club) as Secretary and Treasurer. This organization disseminates information about the plant-based lifestyle and serves to educate our community—herbivores and omnivores alike–on the environmental and health benefits of eating vegan. Before the pandemic made classes online, I had been working closely with campus eateries to ensure that there are proper accommodations for those with dietary restrictions, particularly focusing on Fair-Trade and locally sourced products to reduce CO2 emissions on campus.  Emma is also a member of the Jewish Student Union and the Sustainability club.

Iota Tau (California State University, San Marcos)
We started supporting this chapter this year.  Our budget was set in August 2019 and we were not able to support this chapter with a scholarship.  We hope to provide a scholarship for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

Meet Linda Sheldone, KOK VP Programming

Picture
Linda Sheldone is an initiate of Rho (University of Washington). She is from Mercer Island, Washington and currently resides in Carlsbad with her family and a pets, including 2 dogs, 3 parrots, 2 tortoises, 1 turtle, 5 koi and 1 ball python. She is a nurse, owner of Sisterhood Seminars and a retired paramedic. In her downtime, Linda enjoys hiking and snow skiing. She has served as Chapter Advisor, various alumnae chapter positions and Director of PACS and is currently the Social Chair for KOK and Delta Chi Delta communications chair. Her favorite Alpha Chi Omega memory is the day that her legacy was born and having Stephanie Sibley bring her a red carnation to the hospital.

News from Headquarters

Your connection to Alpha Chi Omega provides us with ongoing encouragement during these challenging times. As we adapt to unprecedented change in our everyday lives, it is essential to continue to develop real, strong women with skills and conviction to positively impact their communities and campuses.

Since AXO's Convention was cancelled, The Star Booth will take place online Star Challenge. During the Star Challenge, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase virtual stars to honor your sisters – just like you have at convention. With each $10 gift, you’ll add a star to honor someone special in your life while also supporting the Real. Strong. Women.®Fund.  Your honorees will be notified as soon as you purchase your stars.

We understand you may not be able to support the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation at this moment. If you are able, I hope you’ll participate in Star Challenge and share your love for Alpha Chi Omega with your sisters via a virtual star.

Star Challenge will kick off on Wednesday, June 24, and run until Wednesday, July 8.
